The AgroScience Education Project is a flagship initiative of the AgroScience Education for Sustainability Initiative of Nigeria (AESIN), designed to strengthen sustainability education and youth empowerment through practical, community-based learning. The project integrates agriculture, renewable energy, and entrepreneurship into secondary school curricula, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Launched in 2024 under AESIN’s Education and Research Unit, the project established Green AgroScience Clubs across secondary schools in Delta State. Students engage in hands-on sustainability activities such as organic gardening, composting, rainwater harvesting, and biogas production, linking science learning to real-life challenges.
In its pilot phase, the initiative has reached over 120 students across 10 partner schools, encouraging youth-led micro-enterprises and school-based sustainability practices. Teachers report greater learner engagement, improved problem-solving skills, and stronger interest in science.
Each outreach cycle includes teacher training, student innovation showcases, and small-scale pilot projects that foster environmental stewardship and entrepreneurship. The project forms part of AESIN’s broader strategy to embed sustainability thinking within Nigeria’s secondary education system and build resilient, innovation-driven communities.
